Plans to bring a popular ice rink back to the city this Christmas have hit a snag (link below.)
http://www.thisisbath.co.uk/news/Undefined-Headline/article-356816-detail/article.html

A meeting today ruled out the use of Green Park Station for the winter attraction - but organisers say it is still possible they may be able to use a different site.

Entertainment firm Sygma has been working since January to open the ^500,000 ice rink at the former railway station.

Its plans had run into problems because of the impact the attraction would have had on the Sainsbury's store and the city's Farmers' Market.

Today a meeting at the site involving all parties including Bath and North East Somerset Council resolved that rink could not be accommodated there.

Sensible decision as Sainsburys car park is nowhere near big enough as it is without losing part of it in the run up to Christmas to stage an ice rink. Good idea, wrong place.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Now a site for the ice rink has been confirmed as the five-a-side courts alongside the sports centre and Pavilion (links below.)

And now the ice rink has been scrapped again....
http://www.thisisbath.co.uk/news/Christmas-ice-rink-cancelled/article-413517-detail/article.html

Some parents at nearby St John's Primary School were concerned at the impact of the attraction on children - claiming that the skaters could distract pupils, and that there were child protection risks.

The site had been inspected by a multi-agency safety committee on Friday, at which Sygma says it was subjected to "a torrent of issues" from the Catholic school's representatives.
