Message at 07:30 this morning ...

Quote
15:00 London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads due 16:39
This train will no longer call at Chippenham and Bath Spa.
This is due to overcrowding because of a sporting event.

I suspect it's to do with the Bristol Rovers v Swindon Town that kicks off at 13:30.

I was perplexed by this, until I realised that the match is actually Swindon Town vs Bristol Rovers.

As Swindon is my 'home' team, I was just being naturally polite and putting guests before family in my writing.

I should have realised there was an entirely plausible reason for the apparent misstatement of the facts, and TaplowGreen and myself should of course now offer you our unreserved apologies.

Given your skills in creatively defending the indefensible, have you considered a career as a Delay Attribution Manager? I’m sure with you in charge your employer would never ever concede any lost minutes!

Nah ... my woolly statement, knowing diddly-squat about football - sorry about that.   It's on a par with my wife (who's native tongue is Amercan not English) getting caught between "Two fish and chips" and "Fish and chips twice".

But, yeah, I do sometimes find myself looking for positive outcomes in apparently dire negative situations.
