The purse with wanderlust ..... how did this happen

Remember I posted about FGW^▸ (First Great Western) finding my purse and letting me know?

Well it was a thursday night and I'd bought a huge platter of sushi at Pad.  Put the purse in my pocket.  I know I did because I had to get the sushi man to hold the platter whilst I did so

Got on the train, put my big orange jacket behind the seat - was an old brown un refurb buffet car and I was in the  double seat by the buffet

Didnt get off or go near the jacket until I got to WOS^» (Worcester Shrub Hill - next trains)

So how was the purse found, with cards intact, on the platform at Reading station?

I sort of agree with qprrule. The rational explanation, assuming you didn't disappear off to the loo at any point during your journey, is that it dropped out of your pocket and fell under the seat, where someone subsequently found it - probably just as they got out at Reading. Maybe on the train's return journey, maybe on another day altogether. They either quickly pocketed the cash, loose change and/or anything else worth having and left the cards (more trouble than they're worth) and chucked it, or they had second thoughts and dropped the thing entirely. If the train happened to stop at Platform 4 at Reading, that tends to be quite well served when it comes to staff, and the lost property office is located there as well - so I daresay someone found it pretty quickly and handed it over.
