After the first (successful inaugural) meeting last month, follow up will be 19:00 on 9th November, same venue.

Two main agenda areas:

a) Setting up group / initial officers etc

b) Current important Chippenham issues that also have a short fuse / timescale.

Will follow up here with more detail over next days

November 9th - Chippenham Rail Users Group Meeting

The second meeting of the Chippenham Rail Users Group will be held at the Central Methodist Hall, Monkton Hill at 18.30 for 19.00.

This is a pubic meeting. Everyone is welcome.

Agenda
1. Agree the Constitution and form Committee
2. Reports from GWR (Great Western Railway) Station Manager and TransWilts
3. Discussion on future agenda
4. Next meeting

We hope you will be able to come to this (our second)  meeting at which we will agree the Constitution and form a Committee. We are delighted that so many of you were able to attend the first meeting or have expressed an interest. A number of you have already joined TransWilts as Friends and Chippenham Town Council have joined as a corporate member.

Subject to confirmation, we expect that the GWR Chippenham Station Manager will be attending this meeting and give an update on station news in particular the construction work for ticket gates.

The station view towards the Westinghouse site has certainly changed since the last meeting with the demolition of the "White House".  Positive news for those of you who use the TransWilts line, from 2nd January the trains will be doubling passenger capacity as 2-car trains are replacing the single car trains. We will report on the train survey carried out over three days late last month.

The agenda and link to the draft constitution will be found on the Events Page of the TransWilts site at https://www.transwilts.org/events

CHIPPENHAM RAIL USER GROUP (CHRUG) Aims and objectives (draft)

* To encourage and promote rail travel using Chippenham rail station, including regeneration schemes, tourism/leisure and community development projects.

* To create a forum to bring together the knowledge and aspirations of the local Chippenham rail user community.

* To enable the local community to increase their economic, social and environmental welfare by making use of the railway line.

* To develop the railway services stopping at Chippenham and improving service connectivity on a sustained basis for the medium and long-term.

* To promote improved accessibility for all train station users.

* To develop new appropriate uses for the station environ and their buildings that provide new and improved facilities; thus making the station more user-friendly, encouraging use of the train.

* To contribute to reducing traffic congestion, and improving road safety and air quality in Chippenham.

* To identify potential sources of funding and sponsorship to carry out projects aimed at achieving the above aims and objectives.
