Dorking Deepdene has replaced their old machines with these. They were not in action on my outward journey but were on my return although I didn't have time to play around with them as I had another train to catch from the main Dorking station nearby.

Have these been installed anywhere else?

Swindon has a couple of the "in door" variant. These look a bit more weatherproof...as they should be.

I hope I am wrong, but that huge screen looks like a vandal target to me.

Exeter St David's and Taunton have them, they are much more advanced for example they offer buy tickets from other stations facility and the potential of for live video assistance.

The sign at the top says that you can not buy tickets starting from other stations. The screen also says "Out of Service - Please go to the ticket office". Hmm... is Deepdene getting a ticket office as well?

Amended to correct the ticket machine quote

The two oldest ticket machines at Didcot (both inside) were replaced recently, one with this model and the other with one nowhere near as tall with a smaller screen. This means that the three ticket machines (four if you count the one just to collect online tickets) are still all of different types.

The two new ticket machines at Newton Abbot have been either 'out of service' or 'card only' more often than in full service since they were installed. The machines appear to have come out of the Microsoft school of over-engineering as it is likely that 85% of the supposedly available functionalilty will never be used.

Card only? TBH (to be honest) I'm kind of surprised any ticket machines take cash. (But wouldn't it be a laugh to find one that accepted cheques; or postal orders!)

The two ticket machines at Dorking Deepdene mentioned above have now been replaced with normal looking ones. Was there a reason for their removal as they're not very old?
