An update from Nailsea: it's still snowing, and still minus three - not looking too good for travel to work in the morning.  Roll Eyes

Should I revise this topic's heading - yet again?  Undecided

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Strangely, the Cotswold Line appeared to have had a near normal service yesterday (and no noticeable crew shortage cancellations either). This morning was a different picture: the first six services to London all cancelled due to the weather, only the two coach 06:53 Worcester Foregate Street to Didcot Parkway halts train running.

Alterations to services between Swindon and Westbury
Due to severe weather between Swindon and Westbury the line towards Melksham is closed.
Train services running through these stations have been suspended. Melksham will not be served. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
Customer Advice
Limited road transport is in operation. If you are travelling between Trowbridge and Chippenham, your ticket is valid via Bath Spa.
Further Information
An update will follow within the next 2 hours.

Speaking with "GWR (Great Western Railway)" (really Capita) I am told that the first southbound train (tomorrow - Tuesday) is cancelled at present on the TrasWilts due to "severe weather" and services scheduled to resume with the first train from Melksham "to Swindon". Not clear if that's the 07:19 (which carries on to Cheltenham Spa) or the 07:49 (which terminates at Swindon).   Weather does seem to linger on railway lines in this part of the UK (United Kingdom) ...
