The routeing guide showed Frome had routing points Taunton, Westbury and Yeovil. Taunton is its own routeing point. As Taunton to Frome is a direct routeing - only direct route is permitted on that. A Westbury ticket is an entirely different story, though.

if you can get a CDR (Off Peak Day Return [ticket type] (formerly 'Cheap Day')) from Westbury to Taunton via Bristol, how come it's not possible to get one from Bath Spa to Taunton? I remember reading somewhere about people buying a CDR from Bath to Keynsham and one from there to Taunton as it's cheaper!

Valid routes Bath Spa to Taunton:

Bath Spa - Bristol - Taunton (can go via Weston-super-Mare)
Bath Spa - Westbury - Taunton

I was only offered a Saver when I checked the NR» (Network Rail - home page) site though, so it seemed unusual you could get a CDR (Off Peak Day Return [ticket type] (formerly 'Cheap Day')) from a *longer* distance...  Huh
