I took the 1447 service from Fareham to Cardiff getting off at Bath Spa yesterday (I'd also like to retract a previous statement saying I've never seen staff at BS, I saw a lot yesterday it turns out), and as we approached a rail bridge over another train line, we stopped dead just before the bridge and waited 5 minutes for the train on the line below to pass and hurtle towards its next stop.

Does anyone know why we'd have to stop to let a train beneath us pass? I'm more curious then anything  Huh

Where exactly did it stop? ie, between which stations.

Does the line underneath connect with your line?

The only place I can think of where you could have stopped is just outside Wstbury over the avoiding line near Dilton Marsh. it's the only palce on route you cross an open railway line.

It was probably a co-incidence that a train passed beneath you whilst you were waiting to get into Westbury station.

As eight said, was before Westbury, I was just curious as to why we stopped but not to worry ^.^
