I’ve always wondered why the RMT▸ (National Union of Rail, Maritime & Transport Workers) waited to flex their muscles so much until the very last London area commuter operator tried to introduce driver control of doors?    Suggesting guards are an essential safety feature on only one TOC▸ (Train Operating Company) out of however many there are has never seemed logical.

Wouldn’t they have been better trying to reinstate the second onboard staff member, (whatever they're to get called), to provide passenger mobility assistance on all those other TOCs that have already run without them for years?
