Have you noticed how the help point team who answer your information point request at unstaffed stations ask for your mobile phone number if you ask an awkward question (like "my train has been cancelled / advertised connection failed and that was the last one of the day - can I do?") .     What do they do if you don't have a mobile phone with you, or is a mobile a pre-requisite of travel these days?

I am not the only one wondering

Have you let GWR (Great Western Railway) know - otherwise they'll continue to think everyone has got a smartphone.

THey want to call you back with the answer - or pass you to the TOCs (Train Operating Company) staff to deal direct (should you want/need a taxi, for example) and they can't call you back via the help point

Yes indeed - I know what they want.  But the question was "what do they do if you don't have a mobile phone"  Grin

Have you asked the TOC (Train Operating Company)? What did they say?

No, I haven't .... but I have wondered.  It's so easy to generate and ask hypothetical questions of GWR (Great Western Railway) - or any organisation - that take up their time un-necessarily ... when others amongst our members might well have been in this situation and be able to tell us what followed "no, I don't have a mobile phone".     And asking members here will give a more useful / real life answer than what the Facebook / Twitter / Capita team think happens.

Totally agree ... it's a question of balance - suggesting / campaigning / partnering / protesting for things to be brought to the attention, without wasting everyone's time in doing so.    Very much along the lines of "how far do we go" which was in the thread at http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/coffeeshop/index.php?topic=20325.0 - "Transport Scholar's" area to avoid bogging the forum and public area down with our esoteric discussions!
