Above is a snapshot (as we are told, 18.2.19) of engineering works that may effect trains at Melksham, and of public meetings.   I will come back and update as I know more.

The Red dates have been given to trackside neighbours near Trowbridge and are days that trackwork is being replaced and there may be noise up to 09:30.   I am awaiting a reply from Network Rail (who initially refrerred me to National Rail, who told me it was up to Network Rail) as to whether or not or how much this will effect trains - so they're more of a warning than a certainly at present.

My own diary includes about a dozen other rail related events over this period which are not open public events. That included TravelWatch SouthWest on 20th March (Taunton), Railfuture on 6th April (Dilton Marsh), MRUG» (Melksham Rail User Group - site) commemoration trip for John Money (Seaton), 28th April, TransWilts AGM (Annual General Meeting) (Trowbridge) 27th April,  MRUG officers monthly, GW (Great Western) Central timetable meeting late this month, an ACoRP (Association of Community Rail Partnerships) event next month, Community Rail in the City on 15th May (Reading), and the RailFuture AGM in Cardiff in May.  Please get in touch for details of any of these of interest.

Reply received - telling me that possession will be released for the first schedule passenger trains, and the 09:30 relates to possible yard work which may generate some continuing noise even after the line has been handed back.

Thank you for letting me know, Network Rail - I confess to not being at all certain I would get at answer, happy that I did get one.
