Same as this later Journey, also found on the FGW (First Great Western) site:

13:30 Oxford to London Paddington due 14:29
This train has been revised. This is due to an earlier train fault.

This service will be formed 5 carriages instead of 8 today.

i thought at the time that it wasn't the usual shortformed message they normally post and then saw your post on here.

The 0542 PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains) to WOS» (Worcester Shrub Hill - next trains) and its return the 0837 WOS to PAD were also this formation. Reasons for this happening were given elsewhere in a post by redskin:

"As for the Cl.180's, at present both 180's are supposed to start the day as a 10 car formation on 2 round trips to Oxford from Paddington. At present we only have 2 180's available to us, if one of them is not going to make it for service (faults etc.) we are told not to run a single 180 on the 0710 Oxford to Paddington, but put it on the 0837 Worcester and use the HST (High Speed Train) on the 0710 Oxford."

So the trains kept to fill gaps due to unreliability end up causing the unreliability and rescheduling themselves!
