There is only one 'wrong type' of slug: I once had the misfortune of wasting many hours failing to learn about thermodynamics because my lecturer thought it much better to spend his and our time telling us about a system of units which in his opinion was far superior to SI,  based on the 'slug'. I don't know about Japan - but there has been at least one on the loose in my house over the last week or so - and so far I haven't found it!
