Of course, you'd still need to go at least as far as Patchway to make the return journey.

You would now. 

Network Rail chose to reduce the facilities at Pilning Station such that Great Western could not even provide the service that was required - one train each way per week - in the franchise.  For passengers wishing to make the journey between Severn Tunnel Junction and Pilning, the fare we consider should be its value in pence per mile between the start and end points irresepective of whether actions by Network Rail have forced passengers to double back or dogleg.

One small crumb of good news,re The Pilning situation,The Cabins that NR» (Network Rail - home page) were using have at last been removed,so now the car park is bigger,just need the tenant to shift his skips !!..
