This has appeared on the SWR» (South Western Railway - about) website, Mark Hopwood has set out the manner in which timekeeping can be improved. For example the Shepperton Branch:

The Shepperton Line was one route that was underperforming, so since the start of the year we moved our newer Class 707 trains on to it. Wider doors and more space on these trains helps everyone board quicker, allowing the trains to leave on time. Using just one fleet of trains on this line makes it easier to operate for our teams, helping to reduce delays even more. This has already seen more of these services join the mainline at Norbiton on time, preventing delays on other parts of the network.

The above was also posted on Twitter this evening. Suffice to say it didn’t go down well with those trying to get home this evening disrupted by a broken down train at Surbiton.

I have to say I’ve been impressed by the regular communication, videos and interviews that Mark Hopwood has undertaken since taking charge at SWR» (South Western Railway - about). Try as I might, I can’t help but think why we didn’t see more of this when Mark was at GWR▸ (Great Western Railway) because it’s good for the MD to communicate with their customers in the good times and the not so good times.
