We have to be very careful at Melksham to ensure that passengers catching rail replacement buses don't wait on the platform, as the buses stop on Station Approach which is out of view (and a sadly unsheltered spot!). With the early train on Sunday replaced by a bus, something to us for watch out for all the way to Easter.

I have been instructed by the person on the Help Point to catch the 49 Trowbridge to Swidnon bus when the (Westbury and) Trowbridge to Swindon train is cancelled; I refused to follow that instruction as the nearest point the bus goes to the station is nearly 3 miles away.

From today / road replacement on many Liskeard / Looe trains, I note that the designated replacement bus stop is some 30 minutes walk from the station - is this a record for an 'official' replacement stop?   At least taxis are offered too in this case.

Quote
Pick up location for rail replacement services:

Liskeard: Rail replacement services stop opposite the main station building.

Coombe Junction Halt: Rail replacement services stop on the corner of the road with the station sign post.

St Keyne Wishing Well Halt: Rail replacement services stop in St Keyne Village, opposite the community centre, a 20 minute walk from the station. If you require a taxi to pick up near to the station, please call GWR (Great Western Railway) customer services or use the station help point.

Causeland: Rail replacement services stop in Duloe Village, opposite the post office, a 30 minute walk from the station. If you require a taxi to pick up near to the station, please call GWR customer services or use the station help point.

Sandplace: Rail replacement services stop at the bus stops by the station entrance.

Looe: Rail replacement services stop at the front of the station.

Without the benefit of local knowledge, maybe the main catchment for these stations are actually *happy* for these stops as they don't have to (usually) get themselves to the station but can catch these services far more locally to them?
