So how long do you think (in these times of virus with shortage of staff everywhere) a serious change to the fares database might take to achieve? And how ong before uk are out of lockdown such that timetables will return & this change is no longer high priority? Which will likely come first?
Personally, I'd rather they prioritised the fares database to allow part-time seasons in time for lockdown release - it's far more important.
Logic might suggest to the general public that product description for what you offer on your website should be correctly priced. Looking at the TransWilts example, if a direct train gets removed from the web site and the lower cost route is now allowed via a longer route (which the passengers would prefer not to be taking!) then the web site should reflect that at the same time.
We have a lag of up to three minutes on our disruption map for caching purposes. That seems a reasonable and pragmatic delay for data to percolate through a system.
But ... I will concede that the railway's databases are not well linked ... and at present changing a product description and pricing for the new product at the same time is beyond them.
