Possibly a bit out of area, but might be of interest in summer months if UK (United Kingdom) holidaying

Begin at stations marking the limit of  Transport for London's Oyster (Smartcard system used by passengers on Transport for London services) Zone.
Possibly just outside the limit of a London Travelcard?

Not out of area for all of us; GWR (Great Western Railway) goes all the way to London!

The routes are indeed outside the limits of a Travelcard in some cases, but Oyster (Smartcard system used by passengers on Transport for London services) or contactless payg does slightly simplify travelling out on one rail "spoke"  and back in on another, and perhaps makes it seem less daunting for some. No need to mess around buying Boundary Zone extension tickets on top of a Day Travelcard (draws breath for caveat re. contactless-only bits and lack of railcard discount).

Guess it is Pay As You Go, or PAYG (Pay as you go).

Another one for our software fixers.
