Yes, I know this is 'old fashioned' as you can use Oyster (Smartcard system used by passengers on Transport for London services) or just contactless cards these days on TfL» (Transport for London - about) services - but a friend, who is not computer literate and does not possess either an Oyster card or contactless card - has asked me if I can buy them a paper London Travelcard. They are being driven up to Ruislip, but wish to get a Travelcard in advance of their travels.

This is easy at any staffed ticket office, but I am unable to get any of the online ticket engines to sell me one. I can select West Ruislip as the 'from' station and 'London Travelcard zones 1-6' as the 'to' station, but when I click on 'Find Tickets'/'Search' or whatever, it just returns the message 'We haven't been able to find any trains that meet your search'.

I am probably missing the obvious, but as both the GWR (Great Western Railway) and SWR» (South Western Railway - about) websites tell me I can buy a Travelcard online, how do I go about buying one?

Try the Southeastern website.

https://www.southeasternrailway.co.uk/

I bought Travelcards from them over the weekend. I chose Bromley South and Enfield Town (first 'destination' that popped into my head!) and there was a Travelcard option at the top of the fare selection page.

You should then be able to select collection from any National Rail station.
