Surely with such a delay Abielio ought to have arranged a taxi for them without them having to call the police. OK so in that case it would have to have been a water taxi.

Interesting question does Abielo record people it drops at Berney Arms and ask if they are coming back by train.

Wonder if Paul Merton is going there?

No record taken of dropped off pax, NRES^▸ (India call centre) help point showed to be severely useless at passing urgent info. to TOC^▸ !!

Rather sad, IMHO^▸ . I wonder for how long the train service will survive, and if the pub will ever reopen all year round.

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard.
It has space for cycles, surfboards,luggage etc.
A 5 car DMU^▸ is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.

Similar to the station in Wales which is miles from anywhere and is one of the least used stations.

The survival and rejuvenation of places like this rely on the provision of services; electricity (mains or renewable), water (piped or local purification), sewage (piped, not sure they are keen on septic tanks in the Broads), communications (wired or wireless). If they don't have these already they will be almost prohibitively expensive to install.

The RSPB as a charitable organisation won't have the money that the private utility providers would be asking for. How do "resident" wardens, and visitors, live on their other remote reserves, such as islands off Scotland and Wales.
