Hi everyone (and thanks to @grahame for the suggestion to post here),

My name is Richard and I work at Window Seater, a project that connects rail travellers to the world outside their window. We have just launched a new app featuring 10x rail-based audio guides - produced in collaboration with GWR (Great Western Railway) and the Community Rail Network. The aim is to bring travellers closer to the communities, cultures and histories of the places that they’re moving through.  Smiley

We would love to invite everyone at the Coffee Shop forum to get involved, to test the free app and listen to some of its guides, and let us know their thoughts.

We are seriously, VERY interested to know what you think, and we hope this is a great opportunity to help raise awareness of stories around rail, and to help bring new visitors into local communities.  Your input would be hugely valuable!

The free app can be downloaded for either iPhone, from the App Store here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/window-seater/id1400789838

or for Android phones from the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.windowseater.application

(To make the most of the app experience, we recommend you enjoy it on a train, but you can also listen to a guide or the stories within each guide manually at home, by clicking the play icons or the "Play Story" buttons.)

There is a feedback form too, and we would love some ideas for improvements from the community. It only takes a minute to complete: https://forms.gle/YMH1NPBW5rJUparP8

Thank you so much for your time and we'd love to hear your thoughts!

All the best,
Richard @ Window Seater

Hi, Richard, and welcome to the forum.

A continuation of the thread at http://www.passenger.chat/25314 - but with its own subject line.    Good idea - I might well try one out next time I'm on a train and line covered.

It would seem that I missed this thread last year as I've only just become aware of Window Seater following a scenario provided to me by one of the mystery shopping companies I work for.

Here's the list of lines that currently have Window Seater audio guides:

London to Edinburgh
Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth and Pwllheli (Cambrian line)
London to Southampton
London to Bristol
Bristol to Severn Beach
Bristol to Weymouth (Heart of Wessex line)
Bristol to Worcester
Cardiff to Merthyr Tydfil
London to Oxford (via Reading)
Oxford to Hereford (Cotswold line)
Reading to Basingstoke
Reading to Gatwick (North Downs line)
Swindon to Cheltenham (Golden Valley line)
Swindon to Westbury (TransWilts line)

We are an independent forum, provided and run by customers of Great Western Railway, for customers of Great Western Railway and we welcome railway professionals as members too, in either a personal or official capacity.
