An incident in the middle of the evening peak seems to have badly hurt their network.

Person hit by a train, colleague was caught up in the disruption.

Impressive that SW proactively told customers to go ahead and take a taxi rather than waiting to be asked. A lesson for GWR▸ (Great Western Railway) to learn.

Surprising, given the amount of redundancy in SWR» (South Western Railway - about)'s network that they seem to have sent nothing at all that night right at Clapham Junction, then left at Virginia Water to pick the Main Line back up at Byfleet.

The Down Lines reopened after about an hour, so I guess little would be saved by rerouting trains in that direction. A few Up trains were sent from Woking via Chertsey, and the Up lines reopened after about two hours. Recovery of Up services took some time after that; I think only one track was in use.
