Yesterday, I asked "my" (as a Town Councillor) residents what's important to them, and where they feel action is needed - listing over fifty different facets of local life. With some, of these, the Town Council has some control, others are on our periphery as we write the neighbourhood plan, and with yet a third group we can set a vision and only look to persuade or educate people and other bodies ...

Thank you if you have already responded - 29 responses in just the initial day, with many hundreds of boxes ticked, and good guidance as to where you think "we" as a Town Council should be taking action, and what you consider to be important in our remit. I am NOT sharing initial results yet - though they are already of some statistical merit - as I want to give readers a further chance to respond and encourage more input influenced by your own thoughts rather than echoing the views of others. Please visit http://grahamellis.uk/blog829.html#george and complete the survey there if you have not yet done so. And please share this post or link - anyone with an interest in Melksham is welcome to complete it, including people who visit the town even if they live in another parish; our town welcomes you all, and I want to learn how I can welcome you better.

There have been a number of "write in" extras too (in the free text box) and those are especially valuable - I am reading with interest and will be responding as appropriate.

Forum members who live in or visit Melksham from time to time very welcome to add their voice as they feel appropriate - I can filter results to identify residents and get a local as well as the wider picture you will help provide.  I am discouraging responses from people (and bots) who don't know where Melksham is  Grin

As an aside - how much do members of the Coffee Shop from other places get involved more generally in their local area?

You can find out more about how this forum works [here] - that will link you to a copy of the forum agreement that you can read before you join, and tell you very much more about how we operate. We are an independent forum, provided and run by customers of Great Western Railway, for customers of Great Western Railway and we welcome railway professionals as members too, in either a personal or official capacity. Views expressed in posts are not necessarily the views of the operators of the forum.

As well as posting messages onto existing threads, and starting new subjects, members can communicate with each other through personal messages if they wish. And once members have made a certain number of posts, they will automatically be admitted to the "frequent posters club", where subjects not-for-public-domain are discussed; anything from the occasional rant to meetups we may be having ...
