Note my initial hint of 12 pictures but only 11 places. So which was the cat at?

5 make me imagine an obscure rural branch line in Italy or Spain that no-one has dared to close.  But I've no idea which one.

It looks like it, but it isn't.  It's a line that closed in 1975 and re-opened 20 years later.

I think perhaps the clue was confusing.  It's a second picture at one of the places already indentified. 12 pictures, 11 places.

A more modern photo from Holt perhaps?

The cat: The granites kerbs and pavoirs feel British and there isn't an awful lot left of Holt Junction so I will plump for Tondu. So a Welsh cath.

5. I think it would be nigh on impossible to identify the exact location of this image but I am reasonably confident that this is one of the preserved Fiat Littorina railcars in service on the  Ferrovia Circumetnea line in Sicily.

Yes, but to be fair that's a good spot for the type of train. It's just that the answer to the question "where did the Italians take their trains in the 1930s and then go away and leave them behind?" is Eritrea.

Yes - Eritrea (and, yes, similar to the sort of thing on the round Etna railway).  Ironically, the cat (picture no. 8 ) was from the round Etna railway - Randazzo.  Having given the clue that it was one of the same places as the other pictures, I felt  the tiles looked very much Meditteranean and someone would then guess it quickly.  Clearly my feelings were wrong !!
