Family members were hoping to travel from Worcestershire Parkway to Birmingham New Street on Thursday 1st February, so I took a look at the timetable for them

I can't see that its a day where Cross Country services are listed as being affected by the ASLEF» (Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen - about) action (That's 5th Feb).  But the service has been very drastically reduced.  I can't see on RTT» (Real Time Trains - website) even any of the services that usually pass Worcestershire Parkway non-stop, and the Cardiff - Nottingham trains, which are usually hourly, seem to be reduced to one per two hours through most of the day

Any thoughts as to why this is occurring?

Action short of a strike this week.

Quite a few of the longer distance XC (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) services are stopping additionally at Worcestershire Parkway instead.

For 1st Feb, RTT» (Real Time Trains - website) has only these trains stopping at the Midland Platforms at Worcestershire Parkway.  They're all to/from Cardiff:

Up: 0813; 0914; 1013; 1214; 1413; 1613; 1813; 2120

Down: 0858; 1058; 1258; 1358; 1458; 1558; 1758; 1958; 2158

There was a 12:28 and 14:28 calling northbound and a 15:12 southbound AIUI (as I understand it), as well as a few others this morning.

Yesterday, 1st Feb, saw only four trains in each direction on stop at the Midland platforms at Parkway, and all of those were in the afternoon/evening

My family members went from Worcester to Birmingham by car instead
