More Waffle,

Installation of ticket gates at Sheffield would be a start,

and will this new outfit hold monthly meetings around the country for travellers to express their views?

For Coffee Shop members ... for us to have access long after plans changes after the next election ... I have mirrored copies:

Consultation outcome report
http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/mirror/plan-for-rail-legislative-changes-to-implement-rail-reform-consultation-outcome-web-version.pdf

Draft Bill
http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/mirror/draft-rail-reform-bill.pdf

and they will be found where appropriate through our "deep search" at the top right of forum pages.  The word "pragmatic" will find the consultation outcome report, it being used 3 times in there ...

IIRC (if I recall/remember/read correctly), Sheffield City Council considered the station footbridge as a public right of way, and it's too narrow to safely partition.

I assume the unspoken deal was that it would all be fixed when the HS2 (The next High Speed line(s)) magic money tree paid to rebuild Sheffield station, along with realising the council's dreams of moving the tram line to the west of the station (where it should have been all along), and the A61 to the east.

I am intrigued by Mick Lynch's assertion of a "30 year long decline in our railways since privatisation"...

I cannot see it getting complete through the Parliamentary stages this side of the General Election.  The only thing Parliament will agree is something needs to be done.

GBR (Great British Railways) will not become a legal entity until after the next GE, I'm guessing 2026 / 27

What the draft Bill will give political parties the opportunity to promise things in their Manifestoes
