SWR» (South Western Railway - about) are running an Exeter to Southampton service today due to engineering works east of Salisbury. Change at Southampton for Waterloo. Seems a good idea saving rail replacement bus journey
Tomorrow, Sunday, Waterloo to Exeter direct through service via Southampton

It's perfect for those of us with dogs who may, or may not, be allowed aboard RRBs (Rail Replacement Bus).

I'm just about to depart Southampton, having arrived on the direct service from Templecombe. Heading to Reading with CrossCountry.

Just a pity SWR» (South Western Railway - about) won't do what SWT (South West Trains) did and that is run the service through to Waterloo via Southampton - they must have drivers who sign Basingstoke to Southampton on 159s.

... and it's not many years since Salisbury - Waterloo via Southampton was (for some reason) a valid route from the point of view of ticketing.

And not a huge difference in price either. Wonder if they sell many of these via Southampton fares? After all the service via Andover is very good.
