Yellow markings on HST doors

Yesterday evening at Paddington I noticed that one HST^▸ set had gained yellow markings on each of the passenger doors (i.e. all the purple ones). I'd describe the mark as "kite-shaped", i.e. a diamond shape with the top half shorter than the bottom half. The mark was half on the door and half on the adjacent bodyside. I couldn't see any similar markings on any other HST set yesterday or today. Can anyone explain the meaning of these? If it helps the TGS of the set in question was 44038.

Saw them on Saturday

I've got a feeling its to help guards/TMs^‡ see if a door is fully shut.

That's correct. When viewed from the platform if the diamond doesn't line up then the door isn't shut properly.

This was a suggestion from a member of staff apparently, and after finally gaining permission by the various safety bodies for a trial (meaning the idea was probably first mooted in 1946!) - expect to see all sets with them on shortly.

It was well diagrammed on a set that stopped at some of the shacks such at Dawlish Warren.

I think they should be made of 24 carat gold or some diamonds and then they reflect in the sun and make FGW^▸ trains look bling bling.
