I'm sorry, FGW (First Great Western), but most of the time it's a lot cheaper for me to drive to Westbury and travel from there than use my 'local' station in Chippenham.  If I'm going to Bath the bus goes direct from nearly outside my house so there's no point taking one to Chippenham only to travel back through Corsham again to get to Bath on the railway.

If FGW were to re-open Corsham Station though, I'd use the train a lot more often! Wink  It's a station truly local to me I simply can't use because FGW / Network Rail / whoever won't re-open it!   Roll Eyes

That's pretty much how I answered the survey anyway!  Grin

I trust you also mentioned that you'd use Melksham station a lot more often too, if there was anything approaching a realistic train service! It might not be quite as local as Chippenham, but at least it's halfway to Westbury.

I can definitely sympathise with your campaign. Having lived in Melksham since the '70s, I can still remember the excitement we all felt when our station eventually reopened. It's particularly galling for me then to see our services cut back again to similar levels to the Beeching era, when suspicions were rife that intentionally inconvenient timings were introduced to the timetable in order to actively dissuade people from using the service, thus providing further evidence for eventual closure.
