Just a short note to confirm that the general posting etiquette which is described in your forum agreement, the sticky topics on the "Intro" board, and elsewhere on the site also apply (with sensible re-interprettations where appropriate) to personal messages sent via the forum, and indeed with further re-interprettation away from the forum.  For example ... you should not spam / flood / harrass / personally attack other member(s) via personal message / email / in another way  to the extent that it results in the matter being raised with our moderators / admins.

I know that for the overwhelming majority of members this is a statement of the obvious, but I'm aware of a couple of recent incidents where it appears not to have been so - perhaps in the heat of the moment

Full introduction thread / a copy of the forum agreement may be found via

Yes, I agree that the forum agreement is boring, and it's a pity that it's necessary to state these things.  However, it's proven necessary from time to time.  I'm just in the process of cleaning up a series of 29 posts made in the last hour ... by yourself ... which (in my view break) many of the guidelines we lay down.  I'll leave as many as I can for others readers to see what you've been saying, but some just have to be deleted.

We do not allow the use of sexual / swear words, other band language.  We ask that you do not post links to sexually explicit sites that are nothing what ever to do with railways / First Great Western, and we most cerainly ask that you do not post personal attacks on other members of the board. There are plenty of othe placed on the Internet where such materials and activities are allowed, but for us to allow them here would be to turn this place away from being a friendly place for the majority of our users.

I'll be checking with my fellow moderators to get their views too, but in the meantime I have suspended your account.

You can find out more about how this forum works [here] - that will link you to a copy of the forum agreement that you can read before you join, and tell you very much more about how we operate. We are an independent forum, provided and run by customers of Great Western Railway, for customers of Great Western Railway and we welcome railway professionals as members too, in either a personal or official capacity. Views expressed in posts are not necessarily the views of the operators of the forum.

As well as posting messages onto existing threads, and starting new subjects, members can communicate with each other through personal messages if they wish. And once members have made a certain number of posts, they will automatically be admitted to the "frequent posters club", where subjects not-for-public-domain are discussed; anything from the occasional rant to meetups we may be having ...
