Nomination forms being handed out at Paddington yesterday. Looks like they're keen to reward employees for 'making a difference'. As this'll only benefit those who're directly customer facing I hope they're doing something internal as well to reward staff who help behind the scenes in some way.

I had my ticket checked today by an extremely polite, friendly, chatty and helpful guard on the slow train from Reading to Oxford. At Reading, they'd been handing out "Star Forms", so I was and am aware of the campaign; but I felt really awkward trying to peer obviously at the lady's chest to check her name to fill it in. And I didn't have the courage to ask her what it was, in case she thought I was trying to pick her up or something. So I didn't bother. Sorry.
I have a funny feeling a lot of the travelling British public feel exactly the same way as me though, which is why this American import of an idea is I suspect doomed to be consigned to the "nice try" bin and not seen again.

Simon is a great guy, You should nominate him if you can. He quite regularly on arrival at Paddington goes to the Ex-link Ticket Office and queue busts. He's helpful. So yeah, vote for him, or me |

There are lots of name badges that are slightly dubious in the surname department. The company allows it from a personal safety perspective. A friend of mine is known as Ed Royal and just happens to be a Reading F.C. fan! Some of them stretch it a bit too far though - several years ago, a girl in the ticket office at Oxford was sporting a namebadge with Miss Whiplash on it. I think it must have been a one-off for a bet or something! I wonder what's happended to her now... |

She's probably on a hiding to nothing ... At Nailsea, the name and station details of our local cheerful chap have appeared on our new community noticeboard - whether they were placed there by him, or a third party, is not entirely clear  ... and finally - if anyone cares to nominate the excellent Ollie, his full name is ...  |
