From XC (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) website:

11:27 Manchester Piccadilly to Bournemouth due 16:15
This train will be formed of 3 coaches instead of 4.This is due to a train fault.

16:45 Bournemouth to Manchester Piccadilly due 21:40
This train will be formed of 3 coaches instead of 4.This is due to a train fault.

22:07 Manchester Piccadilly to Birmingham New Street due 23:40
This train will be formed of 3 coaches instead of 4.This is due to a train fault.

Is this a misprint? As in, should it be 4 coaches instead of 5? It just baffled me slightly.

First class on a 4 or 5 coach Voyager is a massive 19 seats.  Of course they're often full.

XC (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) new HSTs (High Speed Train) have over 80 1st class seats, so they are almost always empty.

I wish someone would set fire to the Voyagers.

Preferably when their fuel tanks are full.....

Probably wouldn't be that exciting considering the fact that diesel isn't overly flammable.

 Huh

You've never lit a brake van stove using old rags soaked in diesel, have you? I can confirm that it is (sometimes alarmingly) flammable under those circumstances. Definitely a case of "mind your eyebrows".

Back to the original post, it's unusual but possible for XC (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) to use their Turbostars on the Manchester - Birmingham route, using both ex VT (Virgin Trains - former franchises) and ex CT crew, expensive though.
Never heard of this happening Birmingham - Bournemouth but as far as I'm aware the 170's are passed for the route.

This actually happened this week. Two 170s coupled together worked a Birmingham-Manchester portion of a train.
