I am really suffering this morning, so I thought I would entertain  Grin you all with a light quiz on our favourite TOC (Train Operating Company).

Simple, 5 brief descriptions of stations on the FGW (First Great Western) network!  See if you can figure out what station.

1)  I have 4 platforms
One of my platforms is a bay platform
I have one bi - directional through line
I am served exclusively by FGW

2)  I am a request stop
Again, I am served exclusively by FGW
I have one platform, on a single line
I have another request stop immediately either side of me, in each direction
I can get a direct train to Cam & Dursley from this station

3)  I have 3 platforms
I am served by FGW, SWT (South West Trains) and Southern trains
FGW and SWT traincrew are based here
I have a Premier League F.C stadium named after me

4)  I am served exclusively by FGW
     I have 3 platforms
All trains that stop at me, also stop at Bristol T.M.
One of my platforms is bi-directional

5)  I have 2 platforms
     I have 2 through lines
I am near the sea side
XC (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) services to Pass through me, but none are timetabled to stop at me

Number 2,

Those clues allow me to guess it could be Bugle, Roche or St. Columb Road, as they match all three clues.

Guessed before the fourth clue added.

4  = Parson Street or Bedminster
5 = Worle, Highbridge and Burnham, Bridgewater (though this does stretch the near the seaside bit)

Close with 4, whole answer not correct though

No way near with 5, stations mentioned have no through lines and no sea-side ( I use this term meaning beach and clean water )

(1. Swindon)
2. Chetnole
3. Fratton
4. Filton Abbey Wood (but I think I'm wrong - doesn't the Westbury to Parkway direct service call there?)
5. Dawlish Warren

You are correct with 1, 3 and 5
Close with 2, but only as a request stop North of it.
You are correct in saying the Westbury - BPW» (Bristol Parkway - next trains) calls at Filton, and not BTM (Bristol Temple Meads (strictly, it should be BRI)), so therefore Filton is incorrect!

Just 2 and 4 to go

Good quiz. Only got Fratton.

How about I have 6 platforms am FGW (First Great Western) plus freight. If you have a train in every platform and blow one whistle every train can start to move and clear the platforms.

There was a similar staion on the Brighton line until one of it's branches was closed in the 60s.

Could almost be Slough I think except I think the platform bay that is six would conflict with five

Exeter St Davids would work - I think there would be sufficient bi-di lines, sidings and shunts to allow the simultaneous departures, as long as we ignore platform sharing in 1/3! But it's no good if you need somewhere that's exclusively FGW.

It is Slough there is a Westbound signal from platform 5 takes you to second signal at Horlicks bridge so train in 6 can leave at same time.
