I am reliably informed that this service called at Chippenham at 19.02 , and thus did in fact run.

Noted on the service incidents 28/09/2007 ;-

17:28 Cheltenham Spa to Westbury due 19:25
This train has been revised. It will no longer call at: Stonehouse, Stroud, Kemble and Swindon. This is due to a vehicle striking a bridge.
Road transport will be provided from Gloucester to Swindon.

Note that road transport will be provided from Gloucester to Swindon only, how about the poor passengers from Swindon and Chippenham to Melksham and points south or is it assumed that someone will get their finger out a examine the bridge in time to send the unit ECS (Empty Coaching Stock) to Swindon in time to form the remainder of the duty to Westbury.

According to the information I have it was 13 minutes late at Melksham.  i.e. it did run.

Perhaps it ran from Gloucseter via Bristol Parkway / Bristol avoiding line Bath to Chippenham where it reversed and carried on its journey?

Sadly, if the guard for the 17.28 fails to turn up, 1827 Soton-Chelt is canned aswell
