Apologies to anyone trying to get beyond Cardiff last night - major signal failure between Bridgend and Port Talbot saw no trains in either direction 18:45-21:20. A lot of delays and cancellations, but only two out of the last ten Swansea trains didn't make their final destination. OK some were over two hours late, but they did get there in the end! A long night in Control, but I would also like to thank the local station staff and on-board train managers who were really helpful throughout - even when we did not know how long we were going to be in trouble.

I wasn't one of the passengers directly affected on this occasion but I'd still like to say a big "thankyou" to everyone in Control for doing their best in what was obviously a really difficult situation.

For once luck went my way...............

I had to get back to ludlow so had a choice of the 1722 HFD» (Hereford - next trains) train connecting at HFD for which in all likelyhood, the TM(resolve) wouldnt charge me the WOS» (Worcester Shrub Hill - next trains) - HFD add on (and they didnt even though I offered to pay) or a swansea train to Newport for which I would almost certainly have to cough up a 21 quid upgrade fee.

I opted for the HFD train because I needed to get stuff done, I hate Newport station and I nearly always miss the connection.

Glad I decided to go the longer way in terms of time.

I wonder if I had of gotten the 1745 Swansea train from Reading what time I would have made it to Ludlow
