The Telegraph also have the story of her Maj slumming it (any comps in 1st?) on FCC (First Capital Connect), with some video footage.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/theroyalfamily/6833365/The-Queen-joins-commuters-on-standard-passenger-train-to-Norfolk.html.

According to The Telegraph she sat in the rear 1st class section 'furthest from the engine'. Erm, engine? On a Class 365 EMU (Electric Multiple Unit)?

I see most of the papers have quoted the First anytime single fare, but surely she must have a railcard?   Grin

I wonder if that train ran under the reporting number "1X01" or whatever is used for the royal train these days... If it did then the signallers would have made damn sure not to delay it if at all possible!

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

I think the Railway Eye might have won the caption competition, but I couldn't possibly reproduce it here...

A delightful report form The Times, wonderfully tongue-in-cheek. And most importantly from a rail perspective, totally accurate.  Cheesy

(Edit: Apart from the reference to a 'buffet car')

One wonders whether one took advantage of the connecting bus service from Kings Lynn to Sandringham?
