St Ives line fares

found St Ives - St Erth fares on web site (East Coast) = ^3 off peak single, ^4 off peak return ! Is this an errror as only Day Rangers prev. available on this line ?

try dating journey 21st May (or some other date in new summer timetable)
Odd (and pointless) when St Ives - Hayle Off Peak Return is ^2.90 ??

Looks like singles and returns are being re-introduced for NFM06.

At least this clarifies the situation that exists at the moment - using the ex SIV 8:15am results in various different fares being charged to reach (say) Plymouth.
SIV at that time can be regarded as 'peak' when the train you are joining at SER is 'off peak' - makes for an expensive day out as depending on who sells you a ticket you may be allowed an 'off peak' from SIV, have to split at TRU or SER.
Now SIV is 'off peak' all day !

Most conductors are entirely reasonable about early morning fares when a 150 has 5 or 6 passengers and 'peak' fares to even passenger load are patently ridiculous.

Buses have already done away with this nonsense.

I'm afraid your still wrong on this one chris, the CDS^▸ /CDR^▸ from Ser/Lts/Lel/Cbb to Siv and vice versa have restiction code C6, valid on any train after 0500, whereas a CDS(R) from Siv to say Tru will still be the same code as it is now, valid after 0845. The CDR fare within the branch is the rover ticket but has just been changed in order to make it easier for staff to issue than the current Ranger ticket, the CDR will have no restrictions on how many times it can be used in a day either. Only Devon and Cornwall railcard discounts will be avaiable on the branch still at 50% off.

It is a welcome re-introduction of a single fare though! and Carbis bay to St Ives will be ^1 single ^2 return (as opposed to now where there is only a return available at ^2)

Many many years ago i attended a Systems Course where a guest speaker walked in and Wrote KISS^▸ on the board. When he saw our puzzled looks he said.

"Keep It Simple Stupid"

Maybe the DfT^» , ATOC^» the TOCs^▸ and Passenger Focus ought to adopt KISS for fares.

Can't see it happening though too much revenue in penalty fares for travelling with the wrong ticket.
