My name is Bob and this is my first day as a registered member.  I live in the USA near Atlanta.  I am retired and major interests are world travel and walking.  I have had the pleasure of meeting many Brits through these interests.  I have spent 5 weeks over several years walking with Brits through a company called HF Holidays which some of you may know.  My wife and I have also traveled 3 times with the UK (United Kingdom) company, Explore (to Romania, Portugal, and the Baltic Republics).

This brings me to my reason for registering.  I am the trip coordinator for a group of 33 Americans who are coming to England in May for another week of hiking with HF Holidays in Dartmoor - South Devon.  I have some questions regarding how to arrange and pay for the group's rail travel to Newton Abbot.  I will be posting these, hopefully, under the correct topic.

I am looking forward to visiting your country again, as I am an admitted Anglophile, and will appreciate any helpful suggestions.

Welcome to the forum tours2go. If you mentioned where your group will be travelling from no doubt some of the members will be able to give you the best information available. I personally recommend you check http://www.britrail.com/ as this is the specialist site that caters for rail travellers in the UK (United Kingdom) from overseas. If you know what trains you will be catching however you can contact the individual train companies directly who will assist in ensuring a suitable arrangement can be made for your group to travel.

Hope the info helps

Hi, Bob, and welcome to the Coffee Shop forum! Smiley

We have several members here who are experts on the subject of rail tickets, in the FGW (First Great Western) area in general and Devon in particular, so I'm sure we'll be able to help with any questions you may have!  Wink Cheesy Grin

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

Yes, welcome. If you have any questions regarding the Newton Abbot area, or Devon in general, do let us know. I'm sure either I, or some of the other Devon based members will be able to help with any queries you have!
