Sorry FallenAngel, I'm a bit confused...! Would you mind elaborating on that one? And would you possibly be happy for me to move this to the relevant board(s) for the locations of said fires?  Smiley

Will only be one lineside fire. Both routes stated overlap.

The two routes merge at Patchway. So the lineside fire would be somewhere between there and Newport. I think we can exclude the tunnel though - bit too damp in there!!

UPDATE: National Rail Enquiries says that the lineside fire is/was in the Severn Tunnel Junction area.

Severe delays occured on Tuesday 22nd June 2010 due to a lineside fire between Bristol Temple Meads/Bristol Parkway and Newport (South Wales) due to a lineside fire. According to the National Rail Enquiries website the lineside fire was near Severn Tunnel Junction. This caused severe delays to trains to/from London Paddington, Cardiff Central and Swansea. Portsmouth Harbour services were starting/terminating at Bristol Parkway. Limited road transport operated between Bristol Parkway and Newport (South Wales).

Does anybody know how the lineside fire started?

Today was a bit rubbish if you were travelling on FGW (First Great Western) services. Power cuts in West London I believe causing a signalling fault. So thats 3 consecutive days of delays and cancellations?
