Hi all, I've just made my first post, so thought I should introduce myself.  I've been a lurker for quite some time, so it was about time I jumped in.

I'm currently a commuter on FGW (First Great Western) and have been for the last couple of years.  Currently living in Swindon and I now commute to Guildford most days.  I'm the one arriving at the station red faced and out of breath desperately trying to lock my bike up in time and get on the 06.58 service. If you're ever at Reading station at 7.30am, you'll see me running about the station like a tourist trying to make the 7.34am connection to Guildford (I make it most mornings, and try and look nonchalent when I don't...although inwardly I'm seething)

I've had a long time interest in the railways as my grandfather worked in signalling on the GWR (Great Western Railway) and I always spent 2 weeks during the summer holidays with him travelling the railway network (the longer the journey the better...the thought brings shudders now)  I'd really like to find out more about his GWR history as he worked his way quite high up the organisation, but thats a topic for another day.  Also, as a young un, my dad used to take me on 'railway club' trips where I would be dragged out of the minibus and taken along with a delegation to see the depot foreman (not sure of the correct term) to ask if we would be able to have a look around and collect the numbers.  The thinking being that a club with a young lad would behave themselves...I must've looked innocent back then.

I've very much enjoy the discussions and I hope to be able to contribute more.

Welcome to the forum, Pedros.  We don't have that much input from the North Downs line travellers, and with an amusing first post like that, I'm sure we'll all enjoy your contributions in the future!  Smiley
