I've been looking myself but am hoping someone in the know might be able to find me a nice cheap fare for my nephew..

What I need is an adult fare from Peterborough to Wembley Park tomorrow and then from Wembley Park onto Maidenhead..

The return will just be from Kings Cross to Peterborough on Sunday as I will drive him up to Kings Cross and put him on the train..

I wondered about getting a travelcard (^13.20) from Maidenhead for Saturday to cover all the tube bits and his journey back to my house.. And then a Adult Super off peak return for his journey from and back to Peterborough (^37.30)..

If anyone can do it cheaper though I would be very grateful  Cheesy

There are slightly cheaper fares from PBO to KGX if you buy a "First Capital Connect Only" ticket, although obviously that means you can't use the faster East Coast trains. Looks like it saves 4 or 5 quid, so depends on whether he thinks that's worth it for a slower journey.

The Maidenhead travelcard idea is definitely a good one I think.

I think it might be cheaper to buy a Peterborough - Maidenhead Super Saver Return (period return) at ^45.80 then an Oyster (Smartcard system used by passengers on Transport for London services) PAYG (Pay as you go) from London to Wembley which according to Avantix (Ticket Issuing System used on board trains) costs ^2.30 single.

Expensive for a relatively short journey  Huh

Well we wondered about the Oyster (Smartcard system used by passengers on Transport for London services) option.. But surely if it's ^2.30 single, then it's another ^2.30 to get to Paddington afterwards? Since a single to Maidenhead is ^9.40, and travelcard (including all tubes/buses) is ^13.20...So ^9.40 plus ^2.30 times two is more expensive than the travelcard?

And yes we also worked out we could save about ^4 on the return to Kings Cross but at the same time restricting what trains he could get big time.. So probably not worth the ^4 savings in my opinion...

You can use the remaining outward portion of the Peterborough - maidenhead ticket to get from London to Maidenhead as you are breaking the journey in London.

Admittedly I don't know how Oyster (Smartcard system used by passengers on Transport for London services) works - does a ^2.30 single allow you to travel from Wembley to Paddington?

so do you mean the Peterborough to London ticket could be used to get off at Wembley as technically that is in London?

Otherwise we need to get from Kings Cross to Wembley and also Wembley to Paddington.. I'm not sure that would be allowed on a Peterborough to Maidenhead ticket.. I'm sure you'd need to use the Oyster (Smartcard system used by passengers on Transport for London services) both ways?
