Not really / just a rail thing - but all these things tie in.  For our Melksham based members primarily, but also for TransWilts users who want to see thriving towns along the line bringing lots more passenger in ...

Dear [reader],

The Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a meeting in Melksham next Tuesday evening (26th April, 18:30 at Well House Manor on Spa Road - postcode SN12 7NY) entitled "Melksham - the way forward".

"Library - Postal Sorting Office - Swimming Pool - Youth Centre - Registration Service - The Bear - Professional Development Centre - Art Cafe - Road Safety Training Unit - Sports Centre - Bus routes and services levels - Car Parking - are all changing or on the move in Melksham. And what more to follow? - associated businesses, and businesses which rely on people brought into Melksham by these other businesses and services?" ... and read further at http://wellho.info/3246

We are looking for a positive outcode for Melksham and the surrounding area - something that we can all be proud of and make good use of in the wider envrironment.  Solutions that fit in with county plans, already passed resolutions, and don't cost the earth - either literally or metaphorically.   And solutions that look good - really good - to current and future users too!

a) The meeting on 26th April is an open one.  Please come if you're a representative of a business or a group in the town, or an expert who's skills we might be able to use in the co-operative move forward - a vision for Melksham.

b) This Thursday - Maundy Thursday, 21st April - same venue and time (sorry about the short notice - things are moving fast!) a small group of us is meeting to learn some of the background from each other prior to 26th so that we can hone in more quickly on sensible ideas on 26th.

* Please feel free to pass this email on.

* Please come along on 26th if you want to see Melksham move positively forward, and give us your knowledge and support

* If you represent a user group / specific interest and can help more deeply ahead of time, please email me (graham@wellho.net) and come along on Thursday of this week.

We believe we have a great opportunity here.  Let's make it happen!

Graham

You can find out more about how this forum works [here] - that will link you to a copy of the forum agreement that you can read before you join, and tell you very much more about how we operate. We are an independent forum, provided and run by customers of Great Western Railway, for customers of Great Western Railway and we welcome railway professionals as members too, in either a personal or official capacity. Views expressed in posts are not necessarily the views of the operators of the forum.

As well as posting messages onto existing threads, and starting new subjects, members can communicate with each other through personal messages if they wish. And once members have made a certain number of posts, they will automatically be admitted to the "frequent posters club", where subjects not-for-public-domain are discussed; anything from the occasional rant to meetups we may be having ...
