FGW do serve Eastleigh!!

The last Portsmouth Harbour - Westbury service is booked to call at Eastleigh!

Along with it being a frequent diversionary call when there are problems at Southampton!!

This stop is an operational stop for the purpose solely of reversal, and to allow the driver/guard to change ends.

I wondered whether anyone would challenge my answer that FGW (First Great Western) don't serve Eastleigh!  Wink

I checked various sources before typing, being made aware of the operational stop on the 2123 ex PMH. My definition of 'serve' is providing a passenger service at that station.

However the map is defined, it's wrong around Eastleigh - showing the line from Romsey only.

Has anyone spotted the FGW destinations which are served which are NOT on the map, and there's at least one line shown over which they don't run any passenger trains.

FGW (First Great Western) don't operate from Portsmouth to Havant - but it's difficult to rub out a small link like that from the map.

There was a football special from ports mouth via west bury today to Cardiff so dunno if that explains it.

I do know it had 12 passengers on it as it wasn't advertised and everyone got on the small trains

I also spotted the Swansea avoiding line being shown (don't think FGW (First Great Western) use it, do they?) and the Pembroke Dock branch terminating prematurely at Pembroke. Depending on how pedantic you want to be, reversal at Combe Junction not shown (other reverssals all are) and rhubarb loop missing. Should I mention Frome on a loop like Weston-s-m is - probably not; there's a limit to how far a map like this can go in terms of reallity.
