DO YOU RECOGNISE THIS MAN? POLICE APPEAL FOR INFORMATION AFTER HIGH-VALUE THEFT - HAYES AND HARLINGTON STATION
British Transport Police (BTP▸ ) investigators are appealing for information after the owner of the kiosk at Hayes and Harlington station was the victim of a high-value theft.
Officers have also released CCTV▸ images of a man they would like to identify and talk to in connection with the incident, which took place around 1.12pm on Friday, 9 September 2011.
BTP^s Detective Constable Martin Coburn, the investigating officer, said: ^The victim arrived at the kiosk with two bags, both containing a substantial amount of money. As he went to pass the bags over to his colleague, who was on the other side of the counter, another man approached the victim from behind and took hold of one of the bags before running off.^
Investigators understand the man who took the bag had been waiting at the bus stop outside the station, having got off the route 90 bus heading towards Feltham. Following the theft, he turned left from the kiosk on to Station Road and then on to Nestles Avenue.
The man police want to speak in connection with the theft is described as black, between 20 and 24 years-old, of muscular build and with short black hair.
At the time, the man was wearing a green stitched diamond pattern jacket and light blue jeans with dark blue denim rear pockets.
Det Con Coburn added: ^While the victim didn^t come to any harm, this is a shocking incident which saw a man brazenly steal someone else^s property, a substantial amount in this case, in broad daylight. As part of our enquiries into this incident we^ve followed up a number of leads but to no avail so far.
^BTP takes theft offences very seriously and if you recognise the man pictured in the CCTV images or were in the local area at the same time, I urge you to get in contact and assist with the police investigation.^
