From last Saturday afternoon (Saturday is the only day of the week we have a train in daylight on the TransWilts in the winter) ... a new livery, and what look like preparations for a hard winter to come,  or safety devices to deal with the large herds of buffalo that may be found beyong Broughton Gifford Halt!

I would love an opportunity to photograph regular scheduled passengers trains on other days of the week.   Even if they look like this.

Where are those 142s going after Sundays's run ... did I see someone posting on one Northern board or other that "we don't want them back up here?"  Wink

Definitely to Northern - whether people want them or not, all specified by the DfT» (Department for Transport - about) (who don't control rolling stock movements of course)...

Should we start a petition to bring back the Ginsters branding? I quite liked the individual 153's, out of interest what were the rest.

There has to be some scope for something other than the bland corporate First blue for regional areas surely.

I suspect the Ginster's branding is only coming back if said pasty company foots the bill! 158 825 was the Cornish Nasty, wasn't it? I know I ended up travelling on it at least once, slightly incongruously in west Wales.

From what I recall the 153s were painted in different liveries promoting west country branch lines - pretty on the outside but an absolute disgrace on the inside. Give me a clean-and-tidy, up-together interior in FGW (First Great Western) corporate livery any day...

Edited to add...
Turns out we've been here before, albeit nearly 2 years ago, and I am repeating myself almost word for word. At least I'm consistent Roll Eyes

I did get  a trip  on 158825 at least twice and I do have a photo of it somewhere of it working a service to Swansea at Ferryside.
