Aha - change of gauge clue - is 3 Aberystwyth (change for Vale of Rheidol) - my memory from 35 years ago is that the VOR platform was on the left facing the buffers?

No, actually it isn't.   A took a look at that answer and thought "huh?", but then turning up picture no. 3, I can see exactly why you made that suggestion.

Train on the right has just arrived from Limerick Junction ... and really should carry on to Rosslare Europort, but hasn't done so for 10 years. Long story, separate thread.

A guess for 14. Is this the "Fascinating place of historic hardware - far beyond just rail", being the Amberley Working Museum that is (or was when I was last there many years ago) full of historic hardware of all descriptions?
