Only Ticket Office staff have access to the machines and they are also responsible for taking out the cash. Instructions are to empty them regularly and keep the cash inside them as low as possible. The thieves probably got away with a fairly small amount, compared with the cost of repairing the damage.

Reason I asked was that there are places without staff, Hanborough, for example, where it has to be done by someone making a trip to attend to the machine.

The broken ticket machines were all replaced/mended by yesterday.. Let's hope they stay that way.  Smiley

The Shidt and bachmann TVM (Ticket Vending Machine)'s (blue ones mostly at ex wessex stations) are centrally monitored from Swindon and control can check on the status of each machine from their office.
